Obama's Fire Sale on Higher Kollage Education
Scopes Monkey Trial 1925 - William Jennings Bryant & Clarence Darrow. John Scopes was tried and convicted for violating a state law prohibiting the teaching of Darwin's theory of evolution. Bryan served on the prosecution team, and Darrow defended Scopes.
I find it really humorous that Obama used the term "Social Darwinism" to describe the Republican's position on their Ryan budget proposal.
I challenge Obama to ask any of his scholarly liberals in the general public pool of unwashed blue-collar voters to define what he means. LOL! ...Fat chance!
Those educated students are products of public schools and are not taught to read, write or study. They are generally dumbed down with pass/no pass grades along with liberal arts subjects with no emphasis on mathematics, sciences or technologies. Obama tells them to go to Kollege and he will pick up their tuition. I ask, "What are they going to study if they are poor students anyway"? and I further ask, "Why bother if they graduate and cannot earn a living even with that learned knowledge"?
In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson signed the "Elementary and Secondary Education Act" considered by many liberals to be the most ambitious effort to raise achievement levels in public schools. In 2012, forty-seven years later, it has been a dismal failure,
In 2001, President Bush signed the “No Child Left Behind Act” which includes provisions intended to close the student achievement gap (achieve 100 percent student achievement in reading and math by the year 2014), seeks to hold public schools accountable for achieving standards of proficiency, sets standards of excellence for every child, and seeks to place a qualified teacher in every classroom. In 2012, over ten years later, it has been a dismal failure.
So, Obama implies that the Ryan Republican budget proposal is thinly veiled "Social Darwinism" which does not consider the weakest, poorest, sickest members or those middle class people who pay no income taxes are cast aside with no safety nets or social programs to assist them to survive in the American society. Hence, Obama characterized the Ryan Republican Plan as heartless — “dog eat dog” capitalism.
FYI: "Social Darwinism"
The term originally was defined under an anthropological hierarchy theory to prove man's transition from apes to human beings. Liberal progressives as far back as Presidents Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson loosely applied under political standards to define "Social Darwinism" as "the survival of the fittest" that is embodied in the science of Eugenics. It illustrates one sub-standard set in the human species as an inferior race.
Eugenics is “the study of, or belief in, the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics).”
This was a science embraced by the Progressive Movement that started around the time of Woodrow Wilson’s presidency. Woodrow Wilson, as President of Princeton University, approved of the practice of Jim Crow laws in the town and as President of the United States introduced Jim Crow laws in the Federal Government. Progressives feared the consequences of racial equality with 45 percent of the negro population illiterate. The idea today that Wilson and his administration would fund abortions for the poor is very plausible.
THE DEMOCRAT PARTY’S SHAMEFUL PAST
To my great surprise, I found out that it was the Southern Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery. As Francis Rice, Chairman of The National Black Republican Association (NBRA), has said, “They were the ones who passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws. They started the Ku Klux Klan (the terrorist wing of the Democrat party) to lynch and terrorize blacks.” They fought against the passage of every single civil rights law from the 1800’s through the 1960’s.
