Air Force One - The Real One
Monday, July 13, 2015 at 8:00AM
In 1953 an Air force plane entered the same airspace as a commercial airline flight where a near mid-air collision almost took place over New York City involving Eastern Airlines, flight 8610, and Air Force, flight 8610.
Air flight controllers would later learn that Air Force, flight 8610, was carrying President Dwight D. Eisenhower. As a result of this incident the call sign "Air Force One" was created. The Air force Lockheed Constellation airliner, Columbine II, serial number 48610, thus became the first Air Force One.
Watch this fascinating video and learn more about this historic aircraft and the urgent call today for help in restoring this part of our American history.
